This ring is from the line Museum.
In French, the word Muséum is used only to refer to Natural History Museums; for the rest, it is called Musée. The Museums came into being in 1791, succeeding the cabinets of curiosities, in response to the need to classify in a more coherent and scientific manner the collections hitherto presented in the cabinets of curiosities.
It is a black beetle (Anoplotrupes in Latin) which is represented on this ring whose shape evokes a marquise (old raised ring with a basket) revisited. Sacred symbol especially in ancient Egypt, the beetle belongs to the order of beetles which represents the largest number of species in the world, incredibly diverse in size, shape, color ... Anoplotrupes is a common beetle found in Europe, whose shape lends itself well to be represented on this jewel. If you are curious to know more about it, take a look at to our article !
The head of the ring is a small painting of baroque or rococo inspiration, in the centre of which the beetle is placed. The body of the ring is chiselled with mouldings, volutes and motifs in this style, finely detailed. The whole gives a resolutely old and offbeat cachet to this jewel, fully in keeping with the spirit of the cabinet of curiosities.
The basket has the Res Mirum brand signature on the inside.
The size is adjustable from 50 to 58.
The height of the ring head is 27 mm, the width 21 mm.
