La Gustave aerostat ring
1 en stock
This silver ring is inspired by the retro and dreamlike world of the first aerostats. This jewel is of French artisanal manufacture, in silver 925‰.
Made in Roanne
This ring comes from the Aerostat line, which features the impressive silhouettes and ornate motifs of the majestic balloons that marked the beginning of the history of aeronautics under Louis XVI. The famous hot-air balloons, but also charlières, rozières, airships, zeppelins... are as many extraordinary machines which marked their time, and influenced popular culture until today, fuelled by the imagination of writers (one thinks for example of Jules Verne and his hero Phileas Fogg).
Thus the jewels of the aérostats line are at the crossroads of the imaginary and the dreamlike, of the steampunk universe, of travel and novels; impregnated with an atmosphere of the Age of Enlightenment, 18th - 19th century... If you are curious to know more about the atmosphere & the history of this line, it's here !
La Gustave is the name given to one of the very first hot-air balloons, which was the first to carry a woman.
The hot-air balloon is represented in relief, like a cameo, in the centre of a frame where all the symbolism of the sky is represented: clouds, rainbows, rain, lightning, sun... the background of the frame is textured like a cloudy sky. The shape of the ring itself is reminiscent of a hot-air balloon: the head of the ring is round and domed, the body of the ring is striated as if it were ropes, and the lower body ends in two small gondolas.
The inside of the ring is signed Res Mirum.
The size is adjustable from 50 to 58. The ring is 16 mm high maximum.
