Pendant beetle Lucanus
77,36$ – 99,63$
This retro-looking silver pendant represents a naturalized lucan kite beetle. This jewel is of French artisanal manufacture, silver 925‰.
Made in Roanne
This pendant comes from the Entomology line, which declines insects in the manner of ancient entomological frames. Entomology is a science born in the 18th century, first called insectology. Entomological frames are very emblematic of the cabinets of curiosities, the universe of Res Mirum.
It is a beetle that is represented on this pendant, more precisely the Lucan beetle. A remarkable insect if only by its size, up to 9cm! That one finds by at home, which makes it the largest European beetle. It is also quite characteristic because of its immense mandibles, which make think of deer horns, which earned it the name of kite beetle.
This insect is materialized here in 3 dimensions in a precise and detailed way, in the center of an oval frame; just underneath is a small plate where its Latin name Lucanus is engraved. The frame is suspended by a profiled bead, reminiscent of the mouldings of a frame.
The jewelry is signed Res Mirum on the back.
The pendant is 35 mm high including the bélière, the oval frame alone is 25 mm high and 32 mm wide.
