This pendant is from the line AerostatThe new model, which features the impressive silhouettes and ornate patterns of the majestic balloons that marked the beginning of the history of aeronautics under Louis XVI. The famous hot-air balloons, but also charlières, rozières, airships, zeppelins... are all extraordinary machines that marked their time, and influenced popular culture until today, fuelled by the imagination of writers (one thinks for example of Jules Verne and his hero Phileas Fogg).

Thus the jewels of the aérostats line are at the crossroads of the imaginary and the dreamlike, of the steampunk universe, of travel and novels; impregnated with an atmosphere of the Age of Enlightenment, 18th - 19th century... If you are curious to know more about the atmosphere & the history of this line, it's here !

In this oval-shaped medallion is represented the first balloon to have officially transported men, the Marquis d'Arlande and Pilâtre de Rozier, on 21 November 1783 in Paris. This balloon would have been called "Le Réveillon II", in honor of Mr. Réveillon who had assisted the Montgolfier brothers in designing it. It had been preceded by a balloon a few weeks earlier, whose flight had been inaugurated with a sheep, a rooster and a duck on board.

The balloon is represented in relief (cameo technique), standing out from a textured background of clouds. The balloon is decorated with engraved motifs, notably representing fleurs-de-lis, the signs of the zodiac, the monogram of Louis XVI, and eagles with outstretched wings. This element is surrounded by a frame engraved with the symbolism of the sky: clouds, rainbow, rain, lightning, sun. On the back is engraved Res Mirum.

Additional detail, the belly is shaped like a hot-air balloon.

This pendant is 38 mm high without the bélière, 47 mm with the bélière and 28 mm wide.

The chain is sold separately, we offer two sizes: 45 cm (12 inches) and 70 cm (type jumper).
