Lapis globe pendant
111,35$ – 133,62$
Silver pendant evoking an ancient steampunk object, with rough blue apatite stone. This jewel is of French artisanal manufacture, in silver 925‰.
Made in Roanne
This pendant is from the line Mineralogy.
The incredible colour of the gems, the geometric perfection of certain crystal shapes, the properties of certain minerals... are truly fascinating. Man has cultivated his knowledge of stones since prehistoric times, and this knowledge took the form of a science called Mineralogy in the Renaissance. Thus, stones soon came to dominate the cabinets of curiosities, for their appearance and their origin. The Mineralogy line wants to restore the atmosphere of the study of the stones of the past.
This jewel takes the shape of the magnificent ancient terrestrial globes on feet, an instrument that appeared in the Renaissance, symbol of knowledge in astronomy and geography. This pendant forms a cage inside which is imprisoned a rough apatite stone with grey-blue reflections. This cage is suspended by four chains from a belly. Under the cage hangs a small label engraved "Lapis" on the front and "Mirum" on the back (which means strange stone in Latin).
The stone is cut by us from a block, to give it a mineral aspect; note that the shape and colour of the stone varies from one piece of jewellery to another, and are therefore never exactly the same as the image.
All the elements that make up this pendant are assembled by riveting.
The chain used is the forçat ronde, a robust chain made in France.
This pendant is 56 mm high in total, the globe alone is 23 mm high by 22 mm wide.
Possibility to use other stones than apatite, on request; the price and the delay may vary.
Note that the shape and colour of the stone varies from one piece of jewellery to another, and are therefore never exactly the same as the image.
The chain is sold separately, we offer two sizes: 45 cm (12 inches) and 70 cm (type jumper).
