Le Martial hot-air balloon earrings
1 en stock
These loops, representing balloons in a cloudy sky, evoke reverie, dreaming... This jewel is handcrafted in France, in silver 925‰.
Made in Roanne
These asymmetrical loops are from the Aerostat line, which takes up the impressive silhouettes and ornate patterns of the majestic balloons that marked the beginning of the history of aeronautics under Louis XVI. The famous hot-air balloons, but also chariots, rozières, airships, zeppelins ... are all extraordinary machines that marked their time, and influenced popular culture until today, fuelled by the imagination of writers (we think for example of Jules Verne and his hero Phileas Fogg).
Thus the jewels of the aérostats line are at the crossroads of the imaginary and the dreamlike, of the steampunk universe, of travel and novels; impregnated with an atmosphere of the Age of Enlightenment, 18th - 19th century... If you are curious to know more about the atmosphere & the history of this line, it's here !
The Martial would have been the name given to one of the first hot-air balloons in history.
These loops are not completely symmetrical, slight details differentiate them. A small hot-air balloon (different on each loop), represented in relief (as a cameo), stands out from a cloudy background in an oval frame. This frame is attached to a round element, where a meteorological representation is engraved: rainbow, clouds, sun, lightning, rain.... On the back is engraved Res Mirum.
These earrings are 24 mm high without the hook, 35 mm with the hook, and 11 mm wide at most. They weigh 3.48 g.
Small silicone tubes are provided to block the hook behind the ear.
