Lapis globe earrings

These earrings are inspired by an ancient globe imprisoning a raw mineral. This jewel is of French artisanal manufacture, in silver 925‰.
Made in Roanne
These earrings are from the line Mineralogy.
The incredible colour of the gems, the geometric perfection of certain crystal shapes, the properties of certain minerals... are truly fascinating. Man has cultivated his knowledge of stones since prehistoric times, and this knowledge took the form of a science called Mineralogy in the Renaissance. Thus, stones soon came to dominate the cabinets of curiosities, for their appearance and their origin. The Mineralogy line wants to restore the atmosphere of the study of the stones of the past.
These earrings are asymmetrical. One takes the shape of the magnificent ancient terrestrial globes on feet, an instrument that appeared in the Renaissance, symbol of knowledge in astronomy and geography... this loop forms a cage inside which is imprisoned a raw apatite stone, with grey-blue reflections. This cage is suspended by four chains from a chip engraved with the initials RM. The stone is cut by us from a block, to give it a mineral appearance; note that the shape and colour of the stone varies from one piece of jewellery to another, and are therefore never exactly the same as the image.
All the elements that make up this buckle are assembled by riveting.
The other buckle takes up an ornamental motif such as could be seen on the display cases of stone collectors; it is worn on the left ear, as it is designed to come up along the ear. Under this motif hangs a small label engraved "Lapis" on the front and "Mirum" on the back (which means strange stone in Latin).
The chain used is the forçat ronde, a robust chain made in France. The fixing system is a classic pushchair-stem system.
The lengths of the earrings are 45 mm for the model with the globe and 26 mm for the small label pattern. The globe alone is 23 mm high by 22 mm wide. Possibility to use other stones than apatite, on request; price and delivery time may vary. The weight of the large loop is 8.3 g and 1.3 g for the small one.
Note that the shape and colour of the stone varies from one piece of jewellery to another, and are therefore never exactly the same as the image.
The chain is made of round forçat, a robust chain made in France. The fixing system is a classic pushchair-stem system.
